This summer, Ted Lasso is bringing optimism back in style. According to TVLine, Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses) is returning to play the clueless but lovable titular role in season two of Ted Lasso. The official trailer for season two dropped Monday, giving fans of the series a look at where they can expect to find their favorite American abroad when the show returns.
Season one of Ted Lasso followed Ted, a former American collegiate football coach, as he transitioned to life in England coaching the failing Richmond football club with almost no knowledge about the sport. Although his endless positivity and charm reinvigorated the team, the season ended with AFC Richmond being relegated back to a lesser league. However, according to CNN, Ted has the perfect person to whip the team into tip-top competition shape – his more aggressive alter ego, Led Tasso.
Sudeikis’ slightly aloof but charismatic character originated in a series of NBC Sports promotions to advertise the network’s programming of Premier League games. The series has since gone on to not only receive a quick second and third season renewal at Apple TV+, but additionally win Sudeikis’ a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy, via TVLine.
With only its first season, Ted Lasso has garnered much critical and commercial success and is reportedly the number one most completed series across Apple TV+’s entire slate of shows, via TVLine.
Ted Lasso will return to Apple TV+ with new episodes starting July 23, with episodes releasing weekly after the sophomore season’s premiere. Watch the latest trailer for season two of Ted Lasso below.
