TVLine reports the Apple TV sci-fi thriller, Constellation, has been canceled. Its single season premiered in February of this year and consisted of eight episodes.
The series starred Noomi Rapace (Black Crab, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) as a member of the European Space Agency, via TVLine. After a space mission goes awry, Rapace’s Jo Ericcson returns to Earth to resume life with her husband Henry and daughter Alice. But soon she notices some stark differences in her reality, leading to some strange revelations about what occurred up there.
In addition to Rapace, the show starred Jonathan Banks (Better Call Saul, Incredibles 2) as Henry, Rosie and Davina Coleman (The Larkins) as Alice, and James D’arcy (Dunkirk, After the Dark) as Magnus. The supporting cast included Barbara Sukowa (The Swarm, White Noise), Will Catlett (One Thousand And One, Love Is…), and Julian Looman (Emily in Paris, The Ibiza Affiar).
In a previous mxdwn article, Rapace shared her insight on what she’d want to explore if the series received a second season.
“I would love to revisit and bring her back to life again. I think there’s way more to do,” Rapace told ScreenRant. While the story had a conclusion, there was a shocking revelation near the end, easily alluding to a continuation of the story.
ScreenRant also asked Rapace which characters Jo would want to interact with in the next chapter of the series.
“[It would be interesting for Jo to interact with] Will and Jonathan, definitely.” Rapace said via ScreenRant. “I would love to meet Bud, I’d love to meet Henry more. I think he’s doing such a brilliant job, he’s just incredible. And this little weird baby, whatever that is! [Laughs]”
The series was created and written by Peter Harness (Wallander, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell) and based on a concept from Sean Jablonski (Suits, Nip/Tuck).
