Antony Starr Comments on ‘The Boys’ Season Three and More

Antony Starr (Jeremy King, Wish You Were Here) recently commented on The Boys upcoming season in an interview, according to ComicBook. Starr plays the devious character known as Homelander, a twisted egotistical tyrant who uses his powers to bully the people around him so he can get what he wants. Starr recently won ComicBook’s 2020 TV Actor of The Year Golden Issue Award due to his portrayal of Homelander.

When interviewed about the next season of the popular series Starr elaborated on the material for season three. “Yeah, I think once we’re onboard and they know who they’ve got and they want to, then it loosens up. I think initially that it’s they didn’t want to fire the scripts all over the place, but definitely once you’re part of the team they’ve been very open with the material. Which is great, because we get to have that really good exchange with Eric of ideas and really collaborate and create something really special, hopefully,” Starr stated according to ComicBook.

Due to COVID-19, the series has undergone new regulations for filming, and it may have forestalled the series production, but Starr remains hopeful that filming will start soon. “We haven’t got a specific date yet, but in the not-too-distant future, within a month or so. I think because of COVID and because we’re shooting in the winter which is going to be a little difficult, it limits us to interiors, initially. So it’s a very staggered intake of cast to the shooting schedule this season,” Starr responded in his interview with ComicBook.

Last season left fans in shock as Homelander’s new romantic interest Stormfront (Aya Cash, The Wolf of Wall Street) was melted down to a crisp by his son Ryan (Cameron Crovetti, Big Little Lies.) After the death of his mother, Ryan chooses Butcher (Karl Urban, The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers) over Homelander leaving viewers with anticipation of how their relationship will unfurl. Butcher uses his ties to the federal agents to hide Ryan from the superhero corporation Vaught and leaves Ryan with some sage advice. Hopefully when season three releases, fans will be able to see Ryan and Butcher form a surrogate relationship and The Boys will have one more Supe join their team.
