According to Deadline, the internet has been speculating about an upcoming casting in the third season of HBO’s House of the Dragon. In an exclusive, Annie Shapero, an Australian-British actress, has allegedly been cast as Alysanne Blackwood in the adaptation of George R.R Martin’s (Dark Winds, Mary Margaret Road Grader) illustrious novel series. Blackwood is known to be one of the lore’s fiercest female fighters. HBO declined to comment on Shapero’s casting.

Deadline states Blackwood, known as Aly Black, appears in Martin’s Fire and Blood. The character who eventually married a Stark fought alongside Team Black in the Dance of the Dragons. Although not a series regular, she is set to appear in five out of the eight episodes of season three.

According to Deadline, Shapero joins several new faces in the HBO franchise. In addition to James Norton (A Little Life, Things Heard & Seen), Tommy Flanagan (Code Name Banshee, There Are No Saints), and Dan Fogler (Cast Away Sorta, The Rainmaker), mxdwn previously reported that actors Barry Sloane (The Sandman, Revenge), Tom Cullen (Castle in the Ground, Weekend), and Joplin Sibtain (Memory Man, Andor) have also joined the third season.

Shapero played American journalist Jenny in Red Skies, the Israeli series created by Euphoria co-creator Ron Lesham, according to Deadline. She recently starred opposite HBO’s Euphoria star, Jacob Elordi, in The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

House of the Dragon also stars Matt Smith (Caught Stealing, The Forgiven), Emma D’Arcy (Mothering Sunday, The Talent), and Olivia Cooke (The Girlfriend, The Good Mother). The third season will see Team Black and Team Green escalate their familial disdain with the Dance of the Dragons, the war that ends the Targaryen reign in Westeros.
Set centuries before the events of the original series and the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, House of the Dragon chronicles the civil war that erupts after the dying King Viserys dared to promise his throne and the seven kingdoms to his daughter, Rhaenyra.
