Annie Gonzalez (Gentefied) and Sofia Capanna have officially been cast in ABC’s upcoming comedy pilot Bucktown, joining Jane Lynch (Glee), Shannon Woodward (Westworld), and Nicole Richie (The Simple Life), according to Variety. Capanna will make her acting debut in the sitcom.
The comedy follows Amy, played by Woodward, who is evicted from her apartment on the eve of a huge promotion, and eventually finds comfort in moving back into her mom, Helen’s, played by Lynch, house. After her move, Amy reconnects with her teenage niece, Jodeci, played by Capanna, who resides in Helen’s house while Amy’s sister recovers in rehab. Gonzalez is slated to play the role of Jessie, Amy’s best friend who works as her assistant at the ad agency. Amy makes the decision to stay when she discovers just how dysfunctional her mother and niece turn out to be.
Bucktown is written and executive produced by Emily Wilson (General Hospital). Sara Gilbert (The Conners) and Tom Werner (The Conners) will also executive produce.
Gonzalez is most well-known for her role in Netflix’s Gentefied, as well as in Vida, Shameless, and Good Girl’s Revolt. Contrastly, Capanna will make her acting debut in the upcoming ABC comedy series.
