Annette Bening Joins The Cast of The 'Yellowstone' Spinoff, 'The Dutton Ranch'

The Dutton Ranch is the working title for Paramount+’s next Yellowstone spinoff. Deadline just announced that Annette Bening will be joining the cast, playing opposite Kelly Reilly (Little Wing, Promises), Cole Hauser (Dead Man’s Hand, The Ritual Killer), and Finn Little (The Surfer, Those Who Wish Me Dead), in which these three actors will be reprising their original roles from Yellowstone.

According to Deadline, Bening, a Golden Globe winner with multiple Tony, Oscar, and Emmy nominations, will be playing the character Beulah Jackson, who is the all-powerful head of a major ranch in Texas. The spinoff takes place at the home of Beth, played by Reilly, and Rip, played by Hauser. Their estate, a 7,000-acre ranch which they fought so hard for, is called The Dutton Ranch.

The Yellowstone Universe follows the Dutton Family, who own the most powerful and largest cattle ranch in the United States. Actor Kevin Costner (Onward, Headhunters) played John Dutton III, Beth’s father. Beth is a former bigwig of acquisitions at a financial firm. She married Hauser’s Rip, who joined the family business as a young boy under John’s tutelage. Created by Taylor Sheridan (1944, The Landman)and John Linson (The Challenger, The Madison), the universe expanded with two prequel series and another spinoff in the works, all tracking the Dutton lineage. The first prequel limited series was 1883, followed by two seasons of 1923. The next spinoff will be The Madison, and a series coming to CBS, titled Y: Marshals.

According to Deadline, Sheridan and Linson double as the executive producers along with Art Linson (Heat 2, The Challenger), Costner, David C. Glasser (The Madison, Tulsa King), Bob Yari (Fireflies at El Mozote, Bride Hard), Stephen Kay (Isolation, Cell 213), Michael Friedman (The Madison, Landman), Christina Voros (The Madison, Ma) and Keith Cox (Official Selection, Yellowstone).

According to Deadline, Bening received her Oscar nominations for the films The Grifters and American Beauty. Her Emmy nomination came from her performance in Mrs. Harris. She has performed on stage and on Broadway, in shows like All My Sons, written by Arthur Miller (The Crucible, A View from the Bridge), which earned her a Tony nomination. Bening will be seen next in the Apple TV+ limited series, Lucky. Her co-star will be Anya Taylor-Joy (Sacrifice, The Gorge).
