A new shift and new problems await the medical staff at Pittsburgh Trauma Center in the official trailer for season two of HBO Max’s Emmy-winning drama, The Pitt. The medical drama returns for its second season on January 8. View the full trailer below.
Led by Noah Wyle(Donnie Darko, A Few Good Men) in his Emmy-winning role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, the nurses, clerks and physicians of the heavy-laden Philadelphia hospital prepare themselves for the next 15-hour shift during the Fourth of July weekend. We will see Robby balance the emergent patient care with the administrative issues that plague modern-day healthcare workers.
The trailer depicts the return of some fan-favorite characters, including Katharine LaNasa (The Campaign, Truth Be Told) in her Emmy-winning role as nurse Dana Evans. She has returned from a sabbatical after suffering a brutal attack from an angered patient. Taylor Dearden’s (Breaking Bad, Invincible: Atom Eve) Dr. King and Isa Briones’ Dr. Santos (Goosebumps, American Crime Story) have opposing feelings about Patrick Ball’s (Law & Order) return as Dr. Langdon. While King admires his mentorship, Santos is the one who reported him for stealing medication.
Other returning cast members include the dedicated-to-a-fault Dr. Mohan, played by Supriya Ganesh (Spoiler Alert, Pinball: The Man Who Saved the Game); our passionate single mother, Dr. McKay, played by Fiona Dourif (The Blacklist, When We Rise); Gerran Howell’s (Ludwig, Out There) midwestern transplant, Whitaker; and Shabana Azeez’s (Metro Sexual, Blood Sisters) insecure Javadi. A new permanent face in the mix is Sepideh Moafi’s (The Killing of Two Lovers, The L Word: Generation Q) Dr. Al-Hashimi, who will butt heads with Robby as she replaces Dr. Collins, played by Tracy Ifeachor (The Originals, Doctor Who) as a series regular.
The first season of The Pitt became a commercial and critical hit for HBO Max. It made its network TV debut on TNT on December 1 for non-HBO Max subscribers. It garnered 13 Emmy nominations with five wins, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Casting, and three first-time wins for Wyle (Lead Actor), LaNasa (Supporting Actress), and Shawn Hatosy (The Cooler, Outside) (Guest Actor). It has also earned two Golden Globe Awards and three Critics’ Choice Award nominations.
The second season of The Pitt premieres on HBO Max on Jan. 8 at 9 p.m. ET, with its 15-episode season ending on Thursday, April 16. The streamer will provide American Sign Language episodes starting with the premiere, with season one streaming with ASL beginning Sunday, December 21.
