Andy Samberg has the idea for a new guest star on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and he knows exactly who he hopes to cast.
Amy Poehler is wanted for Fox’s action comedy series. Mike Schur, executive producer for Brooklyn Nine-Nine, created Parks and Recreation (starring Poehler), which is currently airing its final season on NBC. If Samberg gets his wish, the Golden Globe host (Poehler) would join the other recent additions of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, including Eva Longoria (Samberg’s love interest) and Bradley Whitford (Samberg’s dad).
Hollywood Reporter conducted and interview with Andy Samberg and he further explains his dream casting. Samberg was asked to pick any actor for a guest spot on the action comedy. He answered, “Parks and Rec fans’ heads might explode, and it’s pretty sacred ground, but the dream really would be for Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) to show up in Brooklyn. I don’t know if we’d have to talk to NBC about that.”
On a different topic, Samberg was asked if he would be interested in hosting the Golden Globes now that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are done. “Of course, are you kidding me? Any comedian would, but I wouldn’t necessarily want to follow them. They reinvented the whole thing and destroyed. There’s debates about whether or not they’re one of the best of all time, which I think is warranted. They really were great,” explained the comedian.
The entire interview can be found on Hollywood Reporter, where Samberg answers further questions about Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The show airs on Fox on Sundays at 8:30 p.m.
