Amy Adams Partners With HBO for ‘Poisonwood Bible’ TV Adaptation

The very talented Amy Adams, is taking on a new venture — manager Stacy O’Neil and Adams have been announced via Variety, to be in the early stages of launching a new production company called Bond Group Entertainment. The nascent endeavor has already secured a first-look deal at HBO due to it’s involvement in the television adaptation of Barbara Kingsolver’s novel, The Poisonwood Bible

When speaking about her career path, the actress has mentioned that as she moves forward, she “wants to be more involved in portraying strong and independent women,” a huge character theme present throughout Kingsolver’s novel itself; which is aptly the first project to be developed by Bond Group’s creative team.

Published in 1998, The Poisonwood Bible was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1999, and followed the story of Price family as they relocate to the Belgian Congo after “discovering” their divine mission. Many of the book’s influential and notable characters are the women themselves, particularly Orleanna Price, the matriarch of the Price family.

Kathleen Clifford will serve as vice president of TV development for Bond Group Entertainment and has previously been head of original programming for Starz through her work at Grady Girl Productions, Legendary Entertainment, and ICM. Adams and O’Neil will executive produce the mini-series, with Anya Epstein and Kingsolver set to the write adaptation.

The six-time Oscar nominee, just recently finished her acclaimed portrayal of Camille Parker in HBO’s miniseries adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s Sharp Objects — another adapted work that presented and followed a wide array of different women throughout their lives. For the series, she was also nominated for a Golden Globe and served as executive producer as well.
