On Tuesday night, NBC aired season eight of America’s Got Talent. TV Line reports that the show had a total of 11.1 million viewers and a 3.1 demo rating, besting all Tuesday comers, including the popular show the Voice.
Unfortunately, this is not considered encouraging information for the series. America’s Got Talent aired its two-hour premiere on Tuesday night, introducing new judges Melanie Brown and Heidi Klum. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that the show’s ratings went up 29 percent from the last finale, but still dropped 16 percent from its previous premiere in mid-May. Entertainment Weekly reports that this is the lowest rated season premiere for the show.
America’s Got Talent is not the only show experiencing a downfall in ratings. The Hollywood Reporter notes that the Fox show So You Think You Can Dance dropped twelve percent and three tenths of a point. The Voice went down two-tenths of a point from its last week’s episode, marking the series’ all time low. Shows Extreme Weight Loss, NCIS and Brooklyn D.A. also had decreased ratings.
