An exclusive reported by Deadline revealed that FX hit horror anthology series American Horror Story has brought on Berto Colón (Orange Is the New Black, Show Me a Hero), Mat Fraser (Unarmed But Dangerous, Helen of Troy), John Carrol Lynch (Fargo, The Founder), and Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie) for its 13th season. Production is currently underway, headed by creators Brad Falchuk (Scream Queens, The Brothers Sun) and Ryan Murphy (Glee, Pose) and produced by 20th Television.
Fraser and Lynch will reprise their roles from the fourth season – American Horror Story: Freak Show – as Paul the Illustrated Seal and Twisty the Clown, respectively. While the plot of the season and the details of Suvari’s character (and others) are currently under wraps, Deadline’s sources claim that Colón will play Joe the Doorman, and will be employed by Jessica Lange’s (Cape Fear, A Streetcar Named Desire) character.
This season has been hailed as a reunion for multiple series characters, including their cornerstone actors. Lange, Evan Peters (Mare of Easttown, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story), Sarah Paulson (Ratched, Glass), and Emma Roberts (Scream Queens, Nancy Drew) have since been confirmed to return, with Paulson and Roberts confirmed to reprise their roles as Cordelia Goode and Madison Montgomery from the highly popular season three (also known as American Horror Story: Coven). All four have recurred throughout the series and held major roles since its inception, with Roberts joining in 2013 and appearing in subsequent seasons.
Other prior announced returning cast members include; Kathy Bates (Annie, Matlock), Angela Bassett (9-1-1, Black Panther), Leslie Grossman (What I Like About You, Popular), Billie Lourd (Scream Queens, The Last Showgirl), and Gabourey Sidibe (Empire, Difficult People). Previously announced newcomers include cult filmmaker John Waters (Cry-Baby, Hairspray), musician Ariana Grande (Wicked, Wicked: For Good), and Paul Anthony Kelley (Body Language, Love Story).
American Horror Story is, via Deadline, FX’s longest-running hourlong series, with more than 100 Emmy nominations under its belt since first airing in 2011. With the return of so many heavy-hitters from its time in production and the additional buzz of new cast, audiences are invested in what’s to come with a rumored September/October release.
Listed by Deadline, executive producers for this upcoming season are; Charlie Carver (Desperate Housewives, Teen Wolf, Nissa Diederich (Love Story, All’s Fair), Crystle Roberson Dorsey (The Gilded Age, Queens), Eric Kovtun (Monster, The Watcher), Ned Martel (The Boys in the Band, The Normal Heart), Tim Minear (9-1-1, Angel), Tanase Popa (The Prom, The Beauty), Scott Robertson (Love Story, The Revenant), and Jennifer Salt (Nip/Tuck, Sisters), along with Murphy and Falchuk.
Further, as detailed by Deadline, Colón is repped by Monica Villarreal, Paradigm Talent Agency, and Goodman Genow Schenkman. Fraser is represented by AHA Talent. Lynch is repped by Schreck Rose Dapello Adams and Suskin/Karshan Management. Suvari is represented by Management Production Entertainment, Innovative Artists, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
Previous seasons of American Horror Story are currently available for streaming on Hulu.
