AMC’s upcoming crime series has found two more leads. According to Deadline, Henry Lloyd-Hughes (The Irregulars, Killing Eve) and Thalissa Teixeira (Two Weeks to Live, The Musketeers) have joined Lucy Hale (Fantasy Island, Pretty Little Liars) in the thriller, Ragdoll. The new series is based on the novel written by Daniel Cole (Hangman, Wolves).
Deadline reports the six-part drama centers on a particularly gruesome serial killer who has murdered and dismembered six victims. To extend their viciousness, the killer later sews the dead appendages together to form a human body known as “The Ragdoll.” Our three leads will play the detectives assigned to solve the murders before another rash of victims – including one of their own – meets a similar fate.
According to Deadline, Lloyd-Hughes has been cast as DS Nathan Rose, a recently reinstated officer who is also on the killer’s hit list. Teixeira will portray Rose’s boss and best friend, DI Emily Baxter. Hale is the newest recruit to the team as DC Lake Edmunds.
“We’re thrilled to have Lucy, Thalissa and Henry on board as three ideal leads to bring Ragdoll to life,” said Dan McDermott, President of Original Programming for AMC Networks and Co-Head of AMC Studios via Deadline. “We’re excited to begin filming with our partners at Sid Gentle Films and to watch these three talented actors play off each other through these darkly intriguing and intricately drawn characters,” McDermott stated via Deadline.
Toby MacDonald (Old Boys, Heavy Metal Drummer) and Niall MacCormick (The Sound of Lunch, Complicit) will direct the series, via Deadline. Lead writer Freddy Syborn (Bounty Hunters, Cockroaches) will executive produce along with AMC’s McDermott and Kristin Jones. They are joined by Sally Woodward Gentle (The 7.39, The Ruby in the Smoke) and Lee Morris (A Number, My Zinc Bed) of Sid Gentle Films. UKTV’s Commissioning Editor, Drama, Philippa Collie Cousins (Happy Now, The Deadness of Dad) will executive produce for UK outfit, Alibi. Lizzie Rusbridger (Our Girl, Save Me) will also produce.
“It is so exciting to be working with the wonderfully creative Henry again and a dream to have the incredibly talented Thalissa as one of our wonderful leads,” Woodward Gentle said via Deadline. “With the addition of the charismatic Lucy, we have really magical trio bringing this adaptation to life,” Woodward Gentle stated via Deadline. Lloyd-Hughes previously worked with AMC and Sid Gentle on the second season of Killing Eve.
