Yesterday evening AMC+, the AMC Network’s subscription streaming service, released reel of new and returning shows slated to premiere this year, via Variety. Narrated by Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul actor, Giancarlo Esposito, the minute trailer previewed freshmen series, new seasons, and series finales of some of the network’s most popular franchises. Preview the “Iconic characters. Epic new worlds. Legendary series” in the trailer below.
For veteran AMC fans, the network’s streamer boasted the final seasons of three major series: The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, and Killing Eve. The Walking Dead is currently airing its eleventh season, which has been separated into three arcs. The horror-drama series which premiered in October of 2010 has spawned two spinoffs – Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond – with brand new episodic anthology series, Tales of the Walking Dead, coming this year.
AMC will also say goodbye to Bob Odenkirk’s (Nobody) Breaking Bad prequel series, Better Call Saul. Following the origins of shady defense attorney Saul Goodman, the sixth season is set to premiere on April 18. And this month, Sandra Oh (Arliss, The Chair) and Jodie Comer (Free Guy, The Last Duel) will appear in the final season of Killing Eve, which is set for a February 27 premiere on BBC America, AMC’s partner for the show. Oh is MI5 agent Eve Polastri, a complicated adversary for Comer’s elite assassin, Villanelle, in the cat-and-mouse thriller series based on the novels by Luke Jennings (Codename: Villanelle, Killing Eve: Die for Me).
In addition to those network favorites, five new series were teased as coming to both the linear and streaming platforms. Courtney B. Vance (Lovecraft Country, Genius: Aretha) stars in the limited series, 61st Street, as lawyer defending a young black teen from a corrupt judicial system. Reservation Dogs actor Zahn McClarnon is joined by Kiowa Gordon (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, The Red Road) in the psychological thriller series, Dark Winds, based on the crime book series by Tony Hillerman (People of Darkness, A Thief of Time).
Preacher’s Dominic Cooper returns to the network in the Western action series, That Dirty Black Bag, along with Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet, The Dirt). And Moonhaven is a sci-fi series that takes place in an idyllic utopia on the moon 100 years into the future. Moonhaven’s cast includes Emma McDonald (The Picture of Dorian Gray, Queens of Mystery), Elaine Tan (Tully, Doctor Who), Dominic Monaghan (Lost, Call of Duty: Vanguard), and Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike, Justice League).
The trailer also previewed exclusive footage of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire series adaptation. The late author’s novel, which had a film adaptation in 1994, is getting its first series treatment and stars Kalyne Coleman (Dog Bite), Jacob Anderson (Overlord, Game of Thrones), Sam Reid (Belle, Anonymous), and Rachel Alana Handler (The Upside, New Amsterdam). New seasons of Fear the Walking Dead and Gangs of London will also premiere this year.
Launching in June 2020, AMC+ is the streaming service of the AMC Network that bundles original and exclusive titles from several brands including BBC America, IFC, and Sundance.
