According to AMC Networks, AMC and AMC+ have just revealed the trailer for an exciting new action-adventure drama, Nautilus. The series is reportedly inspired by the classic work, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, by early science fiction pioneer Jules Verne (Around the World in Eighty Days, Journey to the Center of the Earth).
The bold new series stars Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful, Star Trek: Discovery) as the famous Captain Nemo, an Indian Prince hellbent on revenge against the East India Mercantile Company, who robbed him of his status and family and made him a prisoner. Nemo steals a prototype submarine to enact his revenge and escapes into the sea with a rag-tag crew of prisoners from the penal colony where he’s being held. Nemo sets out to find the legendary Viking treasure buried at the Pillars of Halvar, all the while earning the trust of his crew and avoiding the East India Mercantile Company’s clutches, according to AMC Networks.
In addition to Latif, the drama also stars Georgia Flood (Apples Never Fall, Anzac Girls) as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville (Emily in Paris, I Am Not an Easy Man) as Loti, and Thierry Fremont (Liaison, Femme Fatale) as Benoit. According to AMC Networks, the series will feature guest appearances from Oscar-nominee Richard E. Grant (Gosford Park, Can You Ever Forgive Me?) as well as Anna Torv (Fringe, The Last of Us) and Noah Taylor (Almost Famous, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou).
The series is developed and produced by Xavier Marchand (Eye in the Sky, Suite Française) of Moonriver TV and Anand Tucker (Girl with a Pearl Earring, Leap Year) of Seven Stories. Nautilus is written by James Dormer (Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands, Outcast) who also serves as executive producer alongside Johanna Devereaux (Harrow, Wedding Season), Chris Loveall (Fortitude, Last Days of the Space Age), Colleen Woodcock (The Duchess, The Iron Lady) and Daisy Gilbert (Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris). Cameron Welsh (Home and Away, Krypton) acts as producer and Michael Matthews (Love and Monsters, Five Fingers for Marseilles) is lead director, according to AMC Networks.
Nautilus will feature 10 episodes with a two-episode series premiere releasing on June 29, 2025 at 9PM ET/PT on AMC and AMC+. New episodes will air Sundays at 9PM ET/PT and the season will conclude with a two-episode finale on August 17, 2025.
