AMC released the official trailer of Snowpiercer season four, the final season of the thriller series, according to Deadline. The series was picked up by AMC to complete the show after it was canceled by TNT due to Warner Bros. Discovery’s content write-down strategy, acquiring the rights from Tomorrow Studios, reported mxdwn.
The official logline reads as follows: “Set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland, Snowpiercer centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1001 cars, that circles the globe. The third season finale left a split of the train with Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) leading the Eternal Engine and those passengers who chose to stay aboard Snowpiercer for relative safety, and Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) leading the others on Big Alice who chose to adventure to the unknown, outside world of New Eden.”
In the newest trailer by AMC, a voiceover of a sinister voice is heard saying, “And now the closing act,” followed by an inner monologue recalling, “I’ll never forget our first revolution. The deafening silence of a frozen world. No one said a word for what felt like weeks. And in the quiet, we faced the choices we had made.” A team member from the expedition promising how important their research is to the fate of humanity on the train is then heard, with shots of hardship on the train, previews of the expansive frozen spaces outside and escalating personal stakes for the main characters on the train are shown.
According to mxdwn, Snowpiercer is based on Bong Joon-ho’s (Parasite, Memories of Murder) 2013 movie and became the number one new scripted drama on all of ad-supported cable in 2020, with Deadline adding that the series is also based on Jacques Lob (Superdupont, Ulysses) and Jean-Marc Rochette’s (Terminus, The Tribute) graphic novel series of the same name.
Snowpiercer season four will premiere on July 21 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and be available on AMC+.
