AMC Developing Three New Series: ‘NOS4A2’, ‘Silent History’, and ‘Pandora’

On Wednesday, AMC announced three new series that are currently in development, meaning that AMC has begun writers rooms for all three of them. Lately, AMC has been taking a different track in green-lighting original series. Instead of filming a pilot, and then ordering more episodes, AMC has gotten into the habit ordering a writers room to write an entire season, and then deciding whether the series should go forward. They used this process for their Western drama The Son and the upcoming drama Lodge 49 from Paul Giamatti.

Charlie Collier, President of AMC, SundanceTV, and AMC Studios, said the following:

We look forward to diving deep into these three distinctive projects and opening writers’ rooms that allow our talented creative partners to take their visions to the next level, It’s gratifying to have Jami, Sam and Jonathan, who have been so important to AMC’s success through their previous work, bring new projects to the network. We also welcome and look forward to working with Claire and Charles as they explore their unique take on an exciting world.

One of these Silent History, which follows a future generation that is dealing with a epidemic among their children. The epidemic is the children being born without the ability to speak or comprehend speech, but end up having certain innate abilities. As the condition spread, the world is faced with the question of how to adapt to this new society. From writers Claire Carré and Charles Spano (Embers), the series is based on the critically acclaimed novel by Eli Horowitz, Matthew Derby and Kevin Moffett.

Another of these series is NOS4A2 (pronounced Nosferatu), based on the novel of the same name by Joe Hill, son of author Stephen King. It follows lead Victoria ‘Vic’ McQueen, a woman who has an uncanny ability to find what she’s looking for. But she’s facing a man named Charles Manx, a child molester and abductor. Jami O’Brien (Fear the Walking Dead, Hell on Wheel) will serve as showrunner.

The last of these series is Pandora, which has been described as a ‘global mystery-thriller following three converging storylines as ordinary individuals try to piece together dark secrets leaking out into the world after advanced malware dismantles encryption across the internet’. Writers Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley (Humans, MI-5)

Silent History, NOS4A2, and Pandora join AMC’s other returning series including The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Humans, Better Call Saul, Into the Badlands, Preacher, Halt and Catch Fire, Turn: Washington Spies, and The Son. Future drama series set to premiere on AMC include The Terror, set to premiere this fall, as well as Loaded, Furniss, and Paul Giamatti’s Lodge 49.

Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming series from AMC.
