AMC Announces New Adventure Drama ‘Nautilus’ Will Premiere In Late June

AMC and AMC+ have announced the premiere date for an exciting new adventure drama Nautilus. Inspired by Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, the live action series will feature the origin story of the beloved Captain Nemo, an Indian Prince who finds himself involved in the depths of a scientific adventure. In AMC‘s announcement, the show is set to start off the action with two episodes on June 29 at 9pm ET/PT. The series will star British actor Shazad Latif, who is also set to star in Wuthering Heights in early 2026, and has previously acted in past films and shows such as Salting the Battlefield in 2014, and the TV drama My Mad Fat Diary, which aired on Hulu from 2013-2015. Nautilus’ plot follows Latif’s character, Nemo, as he decides to enact revenge on the East India Mercantile Company that murdered his wife and son in their uprising. In turn, Nemo suffers enslavement by the occupiers who invaded his country. Building the Nautilus, he vows revenge for his trauma and loss. While imprisoned, Nemo steals a prototype submarine and escapes to the ocean, along with some other prisoners who tagged along. Nemo must earn and keep the trust of his crew, as he searches for treasure at the Pillars of Halvar.

The 10 episode adventure will also star actress Georgia Flood (Blacklight, Sit. Stay. Love) as Humility Lucas, Thierry Frémont (In Their Sleep, 2 Hours From Pariswho is set to star in the role as Liaison, and Céline Menville (God Save the Tuche, La Bourde) who will appear as Loti. The adventure drama is set to be produced by Xavier Marchand of Moonriver TV and Anand Tucker (Saint-Ex, Leap Year), with plans to bring in special guest stars such as Noah Taylor (Lost in Karastan, Matthew Gray Gubler’s Life Aquatic Intern Journal), Richard E. Grant (Dom Hemingway, Henry & June) and Anna Torv (Secret City Series 2016-2019, The Newsreader 2021).
