The 1983 drama The Star Chamber will be coming to the small screen via Amazon Studios, according to Deadline. The crime and thriller drama is currently being adapted by Amazon and Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air) and Jennifer Klein (The Advocate) for television viewing. Its adaptation will be overseen by Fox 21 Television Studios and Klein’s Vendetta Productions in addition to the oversight from Amazon.
The story behind The Star Chamber is a drama following the livelihoods of judges in California as they attempt to right the wrongs of the American judicial system. The film starred Michael Douglas (Wall Street and Romancing the Stone) as the main character, Los Angeles Judge Steve Hardin. In the upcoming Amazon television adaptation, The Star Chamber will feature a female federal judge in San Francisco as she gathers various judges to balance justice in the judicial system. Currently, there is no announcement of any casting decisions made. Yet, the Amazon adaptation will be produced by Turner, Klein, and Ileen Maisel (The Golden Compass) as the program will be a co-production between Fox 21 Television Studios and Amazon Studios.
