Amazon Signs TV Deal with LuckyChap Entertainment and Margot Robbie

Amazon has struck a deal with LuckyChap Entertainment and Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn, Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) for new TV projects that will stream exclusively on Amazon’s streaming service Amazon Prime Video, as reported by Variety. LuckyChap’s Vice President Brett Hedblom will be involved in creating these original series as well, joining the team of Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara. “We are so thrilled to be partnering with Amazon Studios to bring original content to the ever-burgeoning television landscape,” Mcnamara, Ackerley, and Robbie stated according to Variety.

The group goes on to talk about how Amazon will help them fight conformity in storytelling and help them reach a broad range of audience. “Our hope with LuckyChap has always been to challenge narrative conformity whilst offering a platform to exciting and often over-looked voices. In Amazon we have a cultural partner who shares our passion for storytelling and through its global reach allows us and our collaborators to reach as many viewers as possible,” the team stated, Variety reports.

LuckyChap entertainment already has a proven track record with Margot Robbie considering their work on I Tonya. Alisson Janey (Brenn Macguff, Juno) won an Oscar for best supporting actress, Robbie, and the film editor Tatian S. Riegel, were also nominated for the Oscars as well. I Tonya delved into the life of Figure Skating legend Tonya Harding. Robbie plays Tonya, an up and coming professional skater as she struggles to become better than her competitors. Janey plays her alcoholic mother who despite her abusive methods tries to justify her actions with Harding’s success.

The film received excellent praise from both audience and critics alike and proves LuckyChap’s ability to work with Robbie to get the best results. Robbie’s fans can rest easy knowing that whatever projects are in the works from Amazon’s new deal, the team are sure to strive for the same success they found with I Tonya.
