Prime Video released updates on their new Muhammad Ali series in the works The Greatest. Deadline revealed who will play the parents of Muhammad Ali Omari Hardwick (The Mother) and Dana Gourrier (Raising Dion).
The Greatest will feature all aspects of Muhammad Ali’s life. Highlighting career achievements and how he got to the point of his great success. As well as a deeper dive into his personal relationships, of who made him the man he was. The show has been in the works since 2019 and ready to bring light to what’s been happening behind the scenes. The importance of this series is to show who Muhammad Ali was behind the stardom. Ali is well-known in history as one the greatest boxers of all time. Not only was he a boxer but a social activist. Ali went down in history for his career spanned twenty-one years. In those years Ali only faced five losses. Out of fifty-six wins he had thirty-seven knockouts. Despite his great career Ali faced discrimination as a black athlete in the south during a time of segregation. His challenges even went as far as being stripped of his heavy weight title. The show will also take a deep dive on the things he faced in his career.
The series expects great success not only because of the plot but also the onboarding of Michael B. Jordan who will be executive producing. Jordan’s producing techniques have been in high praise. Jordan produced the films Fahrenheit 451 and A Journal For Jordan. Jordan’s production company will also be featured in the series as he has a deal with Amazon MGM Studios. This is the first permitted scripted series that on Ali. Fans are buzzing and anticipate a release date.
