

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon and MGM Studios have announced a Pacific Rim series to be adapted for Prime Video. The two studios will be working on the new adaptation together and have yet to announce a premiere window. The television project is currently in development and it is the first project from Legendary’s first-look television deal with Eric Heisserer (Final Destination 5, A Nightmare on Elm Street) and his Chronology banner. Heisserer will write and executive produce the series.
Pacific Rim follows humanity as they face off against monsters that come to destroy their civilization. Humanity fights back with Jaegers, which are massive mechanized battle warriors controlled by the strongest and bravest fighters humanity has. They use these colossal suits to fight off the trans-dimensional Kaijus that come to destroy them.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the Pacific Rim universe started in 2013 with the Guillermo del Toro (Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans) –directed feature film that has the same title. The film also brought more into the universe with expansions that led into an animated television series titled Pacific Rim: The Black, comic books, novels, gaming and toys.
The film cast included Idris Elba (Beasts of No Nation, Knuckles), Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Children of Men), Rinko Kikuchi (The Brothers Bloom, The Hot Spot), Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fist Fight), Burn Gorman (The Dark Knight Rises, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) and many others.
Heisserer is known for his work on Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone, Netflix thriller Bird Box, the sci-fi thriller Arrival and many other projects.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Television and Amazon MGM Studios are also in development on a Murdle series and they are also behind the current series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, Dune: Prophecy, Drops of God, Vanda and You Would Do It Too.
