According to ComicBook, Amazon continues to grow its ever-expanding web of Spider-Man projects as news has surfaced of live-action Spider-Man Noir series. The series in the works is most likely for Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service as one of its originals. This adaptation will follow the variant of Spider-Man, Noir, which comes from the 1930s. This is another addition to the growing Spider-Man content Amazon is creating as they and MGM already have Silk: Spider Society in the works.
Oren Uziel (Mortal Kombat) will be the writer and executive producer of the series, according to ComicBook. Uzi has worked on the project along with Phil Lord (Clone High) and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie), producers of Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse as well as former Sony boss Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: No Way Home).
Spider-Man Noir originates from a line of Marvel Comics placed in an alternate universe that takes place during the Great Depression era. The character is now most knowingly known as the black-and-white detective Spiderman voiced by Nicholas Cage (Butcher’s Crossing) in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Following the spider verse of shows being created, the President of Sony Picture Television Studios, Katherine Pope (New Girl) was asked by Deadline earlier in the month where things stand.
Pope stated, “It’s a huge focus certainly for all of us here, and for me in particular. I was already a fan of Angela Kang, so I’m really, really excited to be working with her on Silk. She’s just brilliant and a total pro.’’
She continued to add, “This is also an example of working really closely with Tom Rothman and Sanford Panitch, and the motion picture group, to make sure that we are in lockstep with them and also executing at the same level. They’ve done such an incredible job with that franchise, so we want to make sure we’re executing at that level.’’
