Amazon Cancels ‘Good Girls Revolt’

Good Girls Revolt will not have a season 2 at Amazon.

Amazon has decided not to pick up another season of the female-driven 1960s drama Deadline reports, though Sony TV will shop the series around to other outlets.

Good Girls Revolt, created by Dana Calvo, took place in 1969 and follows a group of young female researchers at “News of the Week,” who asked to be treated equally at the publication. Their actions have an immense impact on the industry, but also create complications in marriages, friendships, and careers. Calvo’s series was inspired by the landmark sexual discrimination cases detailed in Lynn Povich’s book of the same name.

The gender equality series’ cancellation is a little out of left field considering that it received positive reviews and brought in very strong female ratings numbers, with about 67% of its audience being women. Good Girls Revolt gave Amazon its second largest 18-49 female audience for a debut season just behind Man In the High Castle.

The Dana Calvo series starred Genevieve Angelson, Anna Camp, Erin Darke, Chris Diamantopoulos, Hunter Parrish, Jim Belushi, Joy Bryant, Leah Cohen, and Grace Gummer. Along with Calvo it was executive produced by Lynda Obst, Darlene Hunt, Don Kurt, and Jeff Okin. Sony TV’s TriStar Television and Amazon co-produce.
