According to TVLine, Amanda Righetti and Owain Yeoman are poised to leave The Mentalist in season 6.
The two have been with the show since it began and will reportedly exit near the end of season 6, according to Huffington Post. Yeoman plays Special Agent Wayne Rigsby, the arson specialist of Teresa Lisbon’s (Robin Tunney) Serious Crime Unit. Righetti plays Special Agent Grace Van Pelt.
The pair will likely leave as a direct result of the unmasking of Red John. CBS says the identity of Red John will be revealed by the end of the calendar year. “I can neither confirm or deny, but this is the most dramatic and game-changing season and anything can happen,” The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller said in a statement.
“They’ve always been in love with each other,” Heller told Entertainment Weekly, “As we get closer to Red John, all of the team members will start thinking about their major life decisions. That applies to both Lisbon and Grace. They haven’t been able to look to their own feelings. As the show rolls on, those feelings will come to the fore.”
The Mentalist Season 6 premieres Sunday, September 29 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
