Alan Ruck Made A Regular On Fox’s ‘The Exorcist’ Series

Alan Ruck has officially been made a series regular on Fox’s TV adaptation of The Exorcist.

According to Deadline, Ruck guest starred in the pilot as Henry Rance and will continue to play the part. Rance, permanently handicapped from a traumatic accident, will do whatever he can to protect his family from the evil surrounding them.

The Exorcist, adapted from William Peter Blatty’s influential novel and film of the same name, follows Father Tomas Ortega and Father Marcus Brennan as they face off against the terrifying evil and demonic possession that plagues the Rance family. Blatty, though mainly known for his novels, is no stranger to movies and television. Blatty wrote the script for William Friedkin’s take on The Exorcist and wrote and directed The Ninth Configuration, an adaptation of his novel Twinkle Twinkle Killer Kane.

Ruck co-stars in the series with Alfonso Herrera (Ortega), Ben Daniels (Brennan), Geena Davis (Angela Rance), Brianne Howey (Katherine Rance), Hannah Kasulka (Casey Rance) and Kurt Egyiawan (Brother Bennet). The pilot for The Exorcist was written by Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four, The Lazarus Effect) and directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Gambler). Slater and Wyatt are executive producers on the series along with Rolin Jones, James Robinson, David Robinson, Barbara Wall and Roy Lee.

Ruck is one hard-working actor, having consistently worked for the last thirty years. He is probably most well known as Stuart Randek on the Michael J. Fox series Spin City and as Ferris’ sweet, stressed out best friend Cameron Frye in John Hughes’ Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Ruck has also been in Speed, Twister, and Dreamland. Ruck is also set to appear in David Michod’s Brad Pitt-starring Netflix film War Machine and can soon be seen alongside Pat Healy and Ashley Bell in controversial horror auteur Mickey Keating’s new thriller Carnage Park.
