A Game of Thrones spin-off series focusing on Robert’s Rebellion is currently in production. According to Screenrant, Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale), who plays Lyanna Stark in the series, expressed her excitement about reprising the role in the future spin-off. Lyanna is a pivotal character in the original series as she is the daughter of Richard Stark, portrayed by Wayne Foskett (Merlin), and the mother to Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington (How to Train Your Dragon 2).
According to Screenrant, the main plot of the spinoff will focus on a civil war between the great houses, which consists of the Starks, Targaryens and Baratheons, to seize control of the Iron Throne. There will surely be easter eggs located within the future spin-off that will help connect it to the original series.
Franciosi stated in an interview with Screenrant, “Absolutely. Yeah, I would if it came up. It was fun to be a part of something [so big], even if I was a tiny part. It was fun to be a part of something so massive; really good fun.”
This will be a wonderful addition to the fantasy franchise, including House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and Ten Thousand Ships. According to Screenrant, the spin-off series could tell the story of young Lyanna and the journey she will take, leading her to meet and marry Rhaegar Targaryen, played by Wilf Scolding (Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore). Lyanna was supposed to appear in a flashback in the Jon Snow series, but that idea was put on the shelf in April 2024.
