According to Variety, Particle6, the U.K. based production company behind the creation of the first AI actress Tilly Norwood has been commissioned by Hearst networks to create an AI led series. The series titled Straten Van Toen (which translates to “Streets of the Past”), will give viewers a look into Dutch history through the use of AI.
The series has been commissioned for the History channel in the Netherlands and will be ten episode long. According to Variety, each episode will show Corjan Mol (The Curse Of Oak Island, Ancient Evil Unbound). With the assistance of AI we will see him set in a location. Particle6 will use both real historical characters and imagined ones to convey the real stories to the audience about the events in the Netherlands.
Deadline mentions that featured episodes may include a focus in Rokin in Amsterdam, in the beginning as a busy shopping street, however in the 17th century it was the home of the world’s first stock exchange and Janskerhof in Utrech, in the beginning being the center of the Dutch Resistance in World War II and now being a flower market and student square.
According to Deadline, Van Der Velden, the creator behind Tilly Norwood, mentioned that they have using AI behind the scenes for research and post production. This is their first project in which AI is deployed prominently on screen, all carefully guided by humans. Variety mentions that Van Der Velden stated “that she didn’t think that the series was controversial and has also stated that Norwood was not a stunt or an exercise, however it is part of a business strategy that is delivering in spades.”
According to Deadline, the series is set to premiere on the History Channel in the Netherlands in January, along with its Hearst Networks SVoD/BVoD platforms and social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.
