Disney’s brand new series, Agatha All Along, made its grand premiere on September 18, with two episodes available to watch and directed by Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow). Fans are set to see Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms) return to play the mystical title character as she takes the Witches’ Road to regain her powers, along with Joe Locke (Heartstopper), Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Sasheer Zamata (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur) and Ali Ahn (Supernatural). According to Screenrant, Rotten Tomatoes reported that the drama series is officially 74% fresh with critics and holds a 76% audience score. While this is still a solid score, it falls short of surpassing Wandavision, which has an impressive 92% score, but this could change with future episodes being released.
According to Screenrant, Agatha All Along is in an interesting position in Marvel’s Phases four and five, being placed at number 11 on the MCU TV series list, surpassing Echo and Secret Invasion. The highest on the list is Ms. Marvel, with an outstanding 98%, and Wandavision lands itself at number four. Regardless of having a strong start, it is unknown whether the show will be a success for the rest of the season. Previous Marvel projects produced and led by female and marginalized characters were often targeted with negative reviews. The show has the potential to deliver a wonderful blend of humor, drama and supernatural thrills.
While Agatha All Along may not have quite reached the critical acclaim of its predecessor, it’s still a solid addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fantasy drama series still has seven episodes left, which could raise its score and attract new viewers. Fans can rewatch Wandavision, showcasing Hahn’s first appearance in the MCU as the titled character and her showdown with Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers: Age of Ultron) as Wanda, aka The Scarlet Witch
