According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has canceled procedural drama The Hunting Party after two seasons. The network has canceled the show that has been waiting for word on its future. Universal Television, which produces the series, will look to find a new home for The Haunting Party. Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBC and Peacock, stated that “we’re discussing all options” for The Hunting Party.
The news of the cancellation comes after the network revealed its schedule for the 2026-27 season, reports The Hollywood Reporter. After the schedule came out, the dramatic series was nowhere to be seen on the new upcoming seasons of shows. NBC also ordered four new scripted series for the coming season, which squeezed out The Hunting Party.
“We have a very tight schedule. We had to look for opportunities where we could grow, so there are shows that we love that just didn’t make the cut,” Jeff Bader, president program planning strategy at NBC, told reporters before the upfront via The Hollywood Reporter. He said then that NBC was still looking at The Hunting Party’s streaming performance, but “it really did not perform well enough on linear” to earn a third season.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the second season of the series averaged 3.7 million viewers after a week of DVR playback, down 13 percent from its first season. The Haunting Party is a crime procedural thriller about an elite task force formed to track down the world’s most dangerous serial killers. JJ Bailey (Echo, Getaway) created the series and served as co-showrunner with Jake Coburn (The Endgame, Biohackers). They executive produce with Thor Freudenthal (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Hotel for Dogs) and Michael Jones Morales (The Punisher, Promised Land).
The cast of the series includes Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest, In God I Trust), Patrick Sabongui (The Flash, 300), Josh McKenzie (The New Legends of Monkey, Five Bedrooms), Sara Garcia (Ride, Unicorn Academy), Luke Forbes (Harlem, This Is Us) and many others.
The Hunting Party is available to stream on Peacock.
