Move over Kim Kardashian West, because Adriana Lima is also getting her own Lifetime beauty competition show. The 35-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel and Brazilian supermodel Lima will host American Beauty Star, the 10-episode series spawning 12 celebrity stylists and salon professionals turned contestants to compete in a number of challenges ranging from designing red carpet looks and runway attire, to creating editorial looks.
While similar to Kim Kardashian West’s executive produced Lifetime series Glam Monsters, American Beauty Star will bring on a slew of beauty industry experts and celebrity guests, including celebrity stylist Sir John to mentor the contestants alongside former Vogue Beauty director Sarah Brown. By the end of the season, one contestant will walk away with the title of ‘American Beauty Star’.
A+E Networks and Herrick Entertainment will team up to create American Beauty Star, with North Herrick, Ross Elliot and Christian Murphy executive producing the show.
According to Deadline, executive producer Norton Herrick is “thrilled” to partner with A+E on the show, saying, “it’s the perfect home for our highly engaging and entertaining beauty competition series,” adding that, “Global sensation Adriana Lima will host alongside a slate of the highest-caliber names in beauty and lifestyle. The collection of talent and creativity makes the series a must-watch for beauty enthusiasts of all ages and interests.”
Paul Buccieri, President A+E Studios and A+E Portfolio Group spoke on the collaboration. “Herrick Entertainment has created a unique format in the beauty space marrying proven reality-competition story beats with fresh new twists and an outstanding cast of competitors who are at the top of their game. We’re delighted to partner with Norton, Adriana and the Herrick Entertainment team to bring this fresh and original new format to life for our viewers.”
Last week, Deadline reported on Lifetime’s new beauty competition series, Glam Monsters, where upon enduring weeks of beauty-related challenges, one contestant will be lucky enough to claim a spot among Mrs. West’s “Glam Empire”. The series is being executive produced by Kim Kardashian West.
