Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again, which is set to premiere on Disney+, paused production amidst the WGA strike. According to Deadline, after reviewing the footage they had, Marvel Studios decided to acquire new writers and directors. The writers of the series were Chris Ord (Covert Affairs, Deck the Halls) and Matt Corman (The Brave, Covert Affairs), and they will still be executive producers of the show.
Daredevil: Born Again is a reboot series of Marvel’s Daredevil, which debuted from 2015 to 2019. Two actors from the original series Charlie Cox (The Defenders, Treason) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Chained) will be reprising their roles as Matt Murdock and supervillian Kingpin respectively.
As Deadline notes, D’Onofrio defended the series and the choice to hire new writers and directors on X/Twitter. The discourse began when an individual reposted one of D’Onofrio’s posts from April where he shared his excitement about the series, adding “Well now this aged poorly.”

D’Onofrio replied to this post on X/Twitter, stating, “Unless you really know what’s going there’s a chance you could be wrong about this statement. We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of. Have some trust my freind, trust.” His reply can be viewed below.

He continued to state in a different X/Twitter post, “Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre- production, production and post. It’s just reported on these days as if it’s big news. It’s not. It’s simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right. It’s a constant in this business. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankly I’d be worried if we were settling for less.” His statement can be viewed below.
