Actor Kevin Spacey Facing Seven Additional Sexual Assault Charges From U.K. Courts

After a victory against a lawsuit this summer, Kevin Spacey is now facing an additional new seven charges of alleged sexual assault as announced by the U.K’s Crown Prosecution Service, according to Variety. The House of Cards and K-Pax actor is already facing five charges of alleged sexual assault from three separate men.

Per Variety, the Head of CPS Special Crime Division, Rosemary Ainslie, announced the new charges today citing that Spacey’s additional charges were filed by one male who claimed the alleged sexual assaults occurred from 2001 to 2004. The 63-year-old actor is now facing three offenses of indecent assault; three offenses of sexual assault; and, one offense of forcing sexual activity with a person without consent.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Mr. Spacey are active and that he has the right to a fair trial,” Ainslie told the press, according to Variety.

These new charges come as Spacey has yet to face judicial opinion for allegations of sexual assault that allegedly occurred during his tenure as artistic director of London’s Old Vic theater. Spacey served in this capacity from 2003-2015, and again in 2017. After his departure, the company revealed they had received at least 20 allegations of misconduct against the actor. According to Variety, Spacey has pleaded not guilty to those five offenses and is set to face trial in June of 2023.

Spacey’s fall from grace began amidst filming the Netflix political thriller, House of Cards, when allegations of inappropriate behavior surfaced from some on the set. Spacey was promptly fired from the show and was later ordered to pay the series producers whopping $31 million. Later, more accusers came forward, including actor Anthony Rapp (Star Trek: Discovery, Rent), who accused Spacey of allegedly raping him as a teen in the 1980s. While criminal charges failed, Spacey did face a civil lawsuit from Rapp. A jury recently sided in favor of the embattled Seven actor.
