

Deadline mentioned that Rachel Bloom (The Angry Birds Movie 3, Behind The Lines) and co-writer Dan Gregor (Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Most Likely to Murder) just got the green light from ABC to film the single-camera pilot, Do You Want to Have Kids? Bloom and Gregor are real-life husband and wife with one child. The duo co-wrote and co-created the show for 20th Century Television. They will also executive produce along with Steven Levitan (Nobody Wants This, Modern Family) and Danielle Stokdyke (iZombie, Play it Again, Dick).
Bloom is no stranger to television. According to Deadline, she received an Emmy and a Golden Globe for her work on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She will be seen in the upcoming movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2. Bloom is repped by Sugar23, WME, YMU Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniel Kallis.
Bloom’s real-life husband, Gregor, is a writer and producer with credits including Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, How I Met Your Mother, and the recently released Naked Gun reboot. Gregor is repped by UTA, Kaplan/Perrone, and Hanson, Jacobson, Teller.
According to Deadline, the series will take place in two separate universes. One where the wife, played by Bloom, has a baby, and the other universe, the wife does not have a baby. We see the decisions that the husband and wife make and how they alter their lives.
Do You Want to Have Kids? will be the second pilot that ABC has greenlit this year, the first being the drama, RJ Decker. According to Deadline, other projects on the pilot list include the already ordered Scrubs revival, a potential Rookie spinoff, The Rookie North, and lastly, the comedy Mittens. 9-1-1: Nashville is the second new scripted series set to premiere this fall, with Scrubs being a midseason replacement.
The series reunites Bloom with her Hulu Reboot producers, Levitan, Stokdyk, and 20th Television. According to Deadline, Bloom played a lead in the one-season series about a network rebooting an old TV series.
