ABC has denied a report claiming Jimmy Kimmel Live! will end in 2027 after its 24th season. According to Entertainment Weekly, an ABC Entertainment spokesperson called the report “inaccurate” and said reports regarding the late-night show’s future are currently speculative.

The response follows a report from Page Six claiming Jimmy Kimmel’s (The Man Show, Crank Yankers, The Boss Baby) contract would not be renewed and that his late-night series was preparing to conclude after 24 seasons.

Kimmel launched Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC in 2003 following his run as co-creator and co-host of Comedy Central’s The Man Show starring Adam Carolla (The Hammer, Wreck-It Ralph, The 24 Hour War). The late-night series originally aired at 12:05 a.m. before moving to its current 11:35 p.m. time slot in 2013.

Kimmel is entering his 24th year hosting the series, placing him ahead of longtime late-night hosts David Letterman (Private Parts, Bevis and Butt-Head Do America, Late Show with David Letterman) and Jay Leno (Dave, Contact, Space Cowboys) in terms of longevity with a single late-night talk show. Johnny Carson (Fargo, Blind Target, Looking for Love) remains ahead of Kimmel after hosting The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson for a total of over 4,500 episodes spanning 30 years.

The future of Jimmy Kimmel Live! has received attention as Kimmel approaches the end of his current contract. ABC previously extended his deal for one additional year through May 2027 rather than the three-year extensions he had received in the past.

Kimmel has also publicly discussed the possibility of eventually leaving late-night television. His wife and the show’s executive producer, Molly McNearney (Murder Mystery, Dumplin’, The Oscars), has similarly discussed conversations the couple has had about his potential retirement.

The series temporarily went off the air in 2025 following comments Kimmel made about the killing of Charlie Kirk. ABC later reinstated the program, while station groups Nexstar and Sinclair continued to preempt it for a brief period.

Despite speculation surrounding the show’s future, ABC has not announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will conclude following its current season.
