ABC Continues Its Roll of Lighter Fare with ‘False Profits’

ABC announced its order for a pilot called False Profits adding to its obvious target of bringing lighter programming to the lineup. The newest addition is a comedic soap revolving around a team of hard-luck women in Arizona fighting the battles of cosmetic marketing.

According to Deadline, False Profits will be written and produced by Kayla Alpert (Code Black) who also lists writing credits at Ally McBeal in her background. EP assistance will come from from Jason Reed and Sabrina Wind (Desperate Housewives).

ABC previously ordered a few other one-hour programs in the same vein. As covered in an article yesterday, an Irish-Catholic comedy from Tim Doyle was the first pilot requested. The Rookie featuring Nathan Fillion came in as a straight-to-series request as well as the yet-to-be-titled Kenya Barris/Alec Baldwin show.
