ABC has made a pilot commitment for No Way Back, a thriller based on the Andrew Gross novel of the same name, explains The Hollywood Reporter.
The hourlong project centers on two women who join forces and embark on a dangerous journey to find the truth and save their own lives.
One of the women is a suburban mother and ex-cop, who crosses paths with a stranger at a hotel. Their meeting ends when the man is murdered, leaving her as the only witness. The other woman is a young woman from Mexico who has a deadly secret that has forced her into hiding until she can properly prove her innocence. The two women begin a desperate hunt that leads them into a tangled web of treachery, lies and corruption involving drug lords, arm dealers and shadowy figures in the highest echelons of government.
The pilot is based on the 2013 novel No Way Back by best-selling author Andrew Gross.
Jessica Sharzer, who currently serves as a co-executive producer on FX’s American Horror Story, will write and executive produce the drama. It is currently set up at Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox TV. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo from Imagine are going to serve as executive producers.
Sharzer is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and Lichter Grossman; Grazer is repped by CAA and Bloom Hergott.
