ABC has added four hour-long dramas to its latest pilot order, including one from ER writer David Zabel.
The network has added four more pilots to its current order, including one from Zabel and one from Straight Outta Compton writer Sheldon Turner. Three of the four shows, According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Adversaries, Boom, and Kingmakers come from ABC Studios.
David Zabel of ER is writing and executive producing the legal Drama The Adversaries. This story pits a patriarch of a New York Legal Dynasty against his daughter, a federal prosecutor herself, when he ends up on the defense in his own trial.
Boom tells the story of an unprecedented oil discovery on U.S. soil that triggers an economic explosion in North Dakota. This modern take on the gold rush era in the American west is from writers Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne. Pate will executive produce alongside Tony Krantz. Fishburne is co-executive producer.
Sallie Patrick’s Kingmakers is a thriller set in the Ivy League. The story of a young man who infiltrates the school and an old secret society to find out how his sister died during her freshman year. Patrick is writing and executive producing.
From Vendetta Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, The Advocate is being written and executive produced by Straight Outta Compton‘s Sheldon Turner. The Advocate centers a business woman who leaves behind a booming career once a misdiagnosis opens her eyes to the hazards of the healthcare system in order to become an advocate for those navigating the world of medicine. along with Turner, the show is executive produced by Jennifer Klein. Dr. Valerie Ulene and Byrdie Lifson-Pompan serve as consulting producers.
