Malin Akerman Joins Showtime Pilot ‘Billions’

Malin Akerman (Watchmen, Trophy Wife) has been cast in a new drama pilot from Showtime.

The new drama pilot for Showtime, Billions takes a dive into the world of high finance by tracking the approaching collision between two giants: the hard-charging, whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades and the brilliant, ambitious hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod. The new show is written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman, David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin.

According to Varietyit was officially announced Tuesday that Malin Akerman will play opposite Paul Giamatti (12 Years a Slave, John Adams) and Damian Lewis (Homeland). Giamatti will play Chuck Rhoades and Lewis will take the role of Bobby Axelrod. Akerman will play his wide, Lara Axelrod, a former nurse from humble beginnings who now is  married to billionaire Bobby. Actors  Maggie Siff, David Costabile, Condola Rashad, Kerry Condon, and Toby Leonard Moore will also join the cast.

Billions is currently shooting in New York, with the pilot directed by acclaimed director Neil Burger (The Illusionist, Divergent).
