Abbott Elementary has become a fan favorite on ABC. The show’s season two debut is now ABC’s highest-rated comedy telecast in three years, according to Deadline.
Abbott Elementary‘s deferred viewing efficiency should not be surprising. The first season’s debut was the first comedy on ABC to premiere and have quadruple ratings since its original release. This all occurred thirty-five days after viewing. Via TV Insider, Abbott Elementary‘s second episode of the first season brought in the highest ratings on the network since the series finale of Modern Family in April 2020.
On the other hand, this new season’s premiere quadrupled its ratings in only one week. Abbott Elementary, as ranked by Metacritic, is also the only one of 2022’s best TV shows so far that is on the Big Four of television networks, according to Uproxx. The second season of Abbott Elementary has managed to ascend 44% above the first season’s debut in regards to 7.2 million total viewers in MP +35, via Deadline. The pilot episode was directed by Randall Einhorn (Parks and Recreation, The Office) and written by Quinta Brunson (A Black Lady Sketch Show, Big Mouth).
Abbott Elementary follows a group of committed and fervent teachers, a slightly tone-deaf principal, and a very opinionated custodial worker, who are brought together in a public school located in Philadelphia, where despite the odds that are stacked against them, they are still persistent to guide their students to flourish in life. The comedy series was created by Brunson, who also stars in the show, along with Tyler James Williams (Everybody Hates Chris, Unaccompanied Minors), Sheryl Lee Ralph. (Moesha, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit), Chris Perfetti (The Night Of, Crossbones), Janelle James (The Comedy Lineup, Black Monday), and Lisa Ann Walter (The Parent Trap, Bruce Almighty).
Brunson works as the writer and executive producer, along with Patrick Schumaker (Harley Quinn, Surviving Jack) and Justin Halpern (Surviving Jack, Harley Quinn). Abbott Elementary is produced by Warner Bros. Television and 20th Television, which is a part of Disney Television Studios.
