Deadline has reported that Disney+ appears to have reunited several superheroes from The Defenders. Mike Colter (Evil, Accused) and Finn Jones (Game Of Thrones, Swimming With Sharks), who played Luke Cage and Iron Fist, respectively, were spotted on the set of the third season of Daredevil: Born Again in New York City. Also, on set was season two addition Kyrsten Ritter (Breaking Bad, Don’t Trust The B—— In Apartment 23), who plays Jessica Jones. All signs point to a larger reunion for The Defenders.

Daredevil: Born Again picks up where Netflix left off in the 2015 series. Charlie Cox (The Theory Of Everything, Spider Man: No Way Home) plays Daredevil, the blind but otherwise super-sensitized hero who patrols Hell’s Kitchen. The second season airs on Disney+ at 9:00 PM EST on Tuesdays.
The original shows, which aired at several points in the mid-2010s, were created by Drew Goddard (The Cabin In The Woods, Project Hail Mary). The series Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist comprised Netflix’s onscreen Marvel Universe. The standalone series would eventually combine there strength for The Defenders in 2017.
The Defenders differ from the more well-known Avengers in that their foes tend to be street-level. Instead of battling interplanetary cosmic forces, their enemies consist of crime bosses and other smaller-scale villains such as Kingpin. In Daredevil: Born Again, Kingpin is played by Vincent D’Onofrio (God Father Of Harlem, Men In Black).
Daredevil: Born Again writer and showrunner Dario Scardapane (The Punisher, The Bridge) recently commented on the reasoning behind standalone series lacking crossovers between the heroes, even though they live a subway ride away, “The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’” explained Scardapane. “We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York. I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world, but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular,” via Deadline.
