According to TMZ, renowned actress Erica Ash (Survivor’s Remorse, Real Husbands of Hollywood) just passed away at the age of 46 due to cancer. Her mother, Diann Ash, confirmed her daughter’s passing in an interview with TMZ yesterday afternoon.
“ We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, and friend Erica Chantel Ash (1977 – 2024). After a long and courageous battle with cancer, she transitioned peacefully surrounded by her loved ones,” Diann Ash said to TMZ.
Ash was best known for her role in Survivor’s Remorse, a drama centered around the life of Cam Calloway, played by Jessie T. Usher, as he moves into Atlanta with his family after signing a pro-basketball contract, where she played as the half-sister of Cam, Mary Calloway (M-Chuck).
The creator and showrunner of Survivor’s Remorse, Mike O’Malley (Glee, Welcome To The Family), spoke to Deadline about his time working with Ash.
“Erica Ash had a booming laugh that filled the set of Survivor’s Remorse every day. It was a loud and generous laugh. The kind of loud and genuine laugh that signified life being lived to the fullest. Erica did… She was fearless, hilarious, compelling. But most of all – she was a good person. A team player. A woman you loved being around. To work with her was to know what the good life could look like,” O’Malley said according to Deadline.
Loni Love (Soul Plane, Kickin’ It), another well-regarded actress, took to Instagram to mourn the death of her friend and co-star.
“I am sad to confirm my friend and fellow actress Erica Ashe has passed… Erica was talented and hilarious whether it was the show Survivor’s Remorse or MadTv, she would put her all into her work. She would always just be there… My sincere condolences to her family and fans,” Love posted on Instagram.
