As noted by Deadline, Adam Sandler (Grown Ups, Happy Gilmore) made an appearance on Saturday Night Live when his friend and comedian Chris Rock (Everybody Hates Chris, Death at a Funeral) hosted the episode last Saturday. The appearance was a surprise as there were no previous announcements of his presence on the show. The clip can be watched below!
Per Deadline, the sketch starred Rock as a surgeon who was supported by many medical staff and performed surgery to remove an appendix. The patient receiving the surgery is Sandler. Along with Sandler and Rock, Sarah Sherman (You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, Boys Go to Jupiter) played Nurse Linzley. Her character stands out the most as she wrote the wrong form, causing the patient to have their gallbladder removed instead of the appendix. Another aspect that makes Linzley stand out is taking responsibility for her actions.
When she realized she dropped her AidPod during the surgery, she blurted, “Oh my God! Okay, I’m just gonna own it. It was me.”
Rock informs his coworkers to take it easier with her after they get angry about what she’s done. As Deadline states, he attempts to avoid her crying, which sounds like a “Victorian ghost.”
The patient starts to move, which is a clear concern to Rock as he has already attempted to use anesthesia. He removes the blanket, and that’s when the audience sees Sandler.
Sandler was quick to respond with, “Of course, I’m awake because I wasn’t given enough anesthesia.”
Given Linzley’s nature, she quickly responds that she is not guilty of the act. “We know it was you, Linzley!” Sandler’s character tells her as she soon states she would own up to the act she did not do
Season 50 of SNL is honoring the 50th anniversary of its debut. Mxdwn reported that the final two episodes were hosted by Rock last Saturday and will be hosted by Martin Short (Only Murders In The Building, The Santa Clause 3) this upcoming weekend.
