According to Deadline, the final installment of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone will not conclude the story of the Dutton family. Series cast members Kelly Reilly (Eden Lake, Sherlock Holmes) and Cole Hauser (Good Will Hunting, Dazed and Confused) have closed deals to lead a spinoff series. In the new spinoff, they will reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.
Yellowstone is a series on the Paramount Network that follows the Dutton family, which owns the largest ranch in Montana. Throughout the series, viewers see into the family’s lives from the drama at the ranch and even altercations with individuals who try to disrupt the ranch.
The creator of the series, Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Mayor of Kingstown), is working on a new series to expand the Yellowstone universe further. The new series will also feature other cast members from the original series alongside Reilly and Hauser. The new spinoff will share many aspects of the original series with characters played by the same actors in the same present-day time frame. Sources say this is the reason the new spinoff will carry the title Yellowstone.
As per Deadline, Yellowstone producers MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios have been going back and forth with negotiating with Reilly and Hauser for months. The actors were initially eyed for the spinoff, as it was known that the duo would carry on as leads in a sixth installment of the series. Paramount Network originally announced that the second part of the fifth season would be the end of the series but hinted at an epic return as the promos for the second half of the season state it was a season finale and not a finale to the series.
All seasons of Paramount Network’s Yellowstone are available to stream on the NBCUniversal service Peacock.
