The highly anticipated third season of Prime Video’sThe Wheel of Time is gearing up to introduce a formidable new antagonist who will pose a significant threat to Moiraine Damodred, played by Rosamund Pike (Jack Reacher), and the Aes Sedai.According to Screenrant, along with Pike, the main cast of the renowned fantasy series consists of Josha Stradowski (High-Flyers) as Rand al’Thor, Zoe Robins (Power Rangers Ninja Steel) as Nynaeve, Madeleine Madden (Mystery Road) as Eugene, Marcus Rutherford (Obey) as Perrin and Dónal Finn (The Witcher) as Matt.
According to Screenrant, it was announced that the main antagonist, Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan, for the approaching season will be played by Emmy winner Shohreh Aghdashloo (Damsel), known for her roles in The Penguin and Arcane.The third season will begin where the second ended, with the group coming out victorious and defeating Ishamael, played by Fares Fares (Tyrant), and Lanfear, played by Natasha O’Keeffe (Misfits).
The official description of the character stated by Screenrant says she is a powerful Aes Sedai of the Red Ajah with a deep history with Moraine and Siuan, played by Sophie Okonedo (Death on the Nile), and has a score to settle with both of them when she returns to the White Tower. Elaida believes that the ends justify the means and is willing to do anything to achieve what she envisions to be the greater good.
The addition of this new villain will add a new dynamic within the fantasy series, as fans will watch how Morain and the rest of the Aes Sedai will attempt to defeat her while also dealing with the continuous war against The Dark One. According to Screenrant, Elaida will not be the only threat against our band of heroes, as the other Forsaken will surely make their appearance, such as Moghedien, played by Laia Costa (Devils).
While fans await the release of the third season, which is scheduled for March 13, the first and second seasons are available to stream on Prime Video.
