According to Comicbook.com’s recent report, the highly anticipated fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys officially began production today. To commemorate the milestone, showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural, Timeless, Revolution) shared the first page of the season premiere’s script on social media. The episode is titled “Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite” and is written by executive producer Paul Grellong (Tracer Gun, Law & Order: SVU, Revolution), with Phil Sgriccia (Freeway, Hack, Butcher: A Short Film) directing.

The provocative title has sparked speculation among fans about its meaning. Some believe it could reference the return of Love Sausage portrayed by Derek Jones (The Last Of Us, The Northlander, Ghostbusters: Afterlife), a character known for his… notable physical attributes in his downstairs area. Love Sausage, who first appeared in season two and made a memorable return in the infamous “Herogasm” episode of season three, has ties to Issue #14 of The Boys comics, where the phrase originated.
Others suggest the title might hint at the introduction of Bombsight, a character confirmed to join season five, as mentioned by Comicbook.com. Played by Mason Dye (Flowers In The Attic, Truth Or Dare, Natural Selection), Bombsight is the third oldest supe in history and possesses powers related to higher frequencies and extended life spans. His role in the series remains unclear, but his arrival could tie into Homelander’s quest for dominance and eternal youth.
Homelander, played by Antony Starr (Cobweb, Banshee, Without A Paddle), now wielding martial law-level power over the government, remains a central figure in the final season. With Billy Butcher, who is portrayed by Karl Urban (Mortal Kombat Two, Star Trek, Thor: Ragnarok) armed with a supe-killing virus, a climactic showdown between the two feels inevitable. The season four finale left fans reeling as Billy used his newfound powers to kill Victoria Neuman, while Homelander tightened his grip on power.
Also mentioned by Comicbook.com, The Boys season five does not have a confirmed release date yet, but fans can look forward to its spinoff, Gen V, which is scheduled to premiere in mid-2025. The spinoff faced delays following the untimely death of actor Chance Perdomo (After We Fall, After Everything, After Ever Happy).
Returning cast members for the final season include Erin Moriarty (Blood Father, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, The Detective), Laz Alonso (Jumping The Broom, Avatar, This Christmas), Jack Quaid (Scream, The Hunger Games, Plus One), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl, Reunion, The Covenant), Tomer Capone (Taagad, Slingshot, Fauda), Karen Fukuhara (suicide Squad, Bullet Train, The Boy And The Heron), Cameron Crovetti (Goodnight Mommy, Big Little Lies, Witch Hunt), and Colby Minifie (Homebody, I’m Thinking Of Ending Things, Fear The Walking Dead). Additionally, Tony Award-winning actor Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Soul, The Little Mermaid) will join the ensemble in a yet-to-be-revealed role. According to Comicbook.com, season four surprised viewers with guest appearances by stars like Tilda Swinton and Will Ferrell, fueling anticipation for more high-profile cameos.
Kripke’s caption accompanying the script page—“One. Last. Ride.”—reminds fans that this season marks the end of an explosive, boundary-pushing saga. With twists and surprises likely in store, The Boys aims to go out with a bang.
