According to Deadline’s recent report, Black Mirror fans will soon see the hit anthology series take on a new form as it is adapted into an immersive comic book series. The project is being developed through a partnership between Banijay Rights, the global distributor of Black Mirror, and UK-based Twisted Comics, led by Neil Gibson (Top Secret, Maigret, The Case Before You).
The comic books will reimagine some of the show’s most iconic storylines, exploring the dystopian and technologically driven themes that have made the series a cultural phenomenon, as mentioned by Deadline. The rollout is set to begin in mid-2025, with pre-release material available earlier that year through a dedicated website.
David Christopher, Director of Licensing & Merchandising for Banijay Rights, expressed excitement about the new venture, stating, “Black Mirror needs no introduction as one of television’s uniquely engrossing brands. The show’s unpredictable and unexpected episodes will be a perfect fit for this visionary comic book series, which we’re in no doubt will appeal to a whole new dimension of fans.”
As mentioned by Deadline, Gibson founder and CEO of Twisted Comics, called the collaboration a dream come true. “It has long been a dream of mine to extend Black Mirror – one of my ‘hero brands’ – into comic book form. Now that dream is a reality, and I believe fans of the show will love what we are planning. Watch this space,” he said.
Known for its bestselling Twisted Dark comic series, Twisted Comics has previously worked with Universal Pictures on a comic adaptation of Stan Lee’s Lucky Man. Kenny Diack, co-owner of Twisted Comics, described the project as a significant step for the company, highlighting its ambitions to expand intellectual properties.
The announcement coincides with Black Mirror gearing up for its seventh season, set to premiere on Netflix next year. The new season will include six episodes and a sequel to the fan-favorite “USS Callister.” Stars such as Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, Kung Fu Panda Four, Raya And The Last Dragon), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Suicide Squad, The Thick Of It), Rashida Jones (Sunny, The Office, Silo) and Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish, The High Note, Candy Cane Lane) are slated to appear.
As Black Mirror continues to captivate audiences with its exploration of technology’s darker side, the upcoming comic book series promises to bring the show’s haunting tales to a new medium, offering fans another way to immerse themselves in its unsettling world.
