According to Deadline’s recent report, actor Dave Annable (Special Ops: Lioness, Yellowstone) is set to appear in the upcoming Netflix drama series The Waterfront. This highly anticipated series, crafted by acclaimed writer and producer Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson’s Creek), takes inspiration from true events and promises to delve deep into the complex and troubled Buckley family.
As mentioned by Deadline, the eight-episode series follows Harlan Buckley, played by Holt McCallany (Mindhunter, Fight Club) and Mae Buckley, portrayed by Maria Bello (Grown Ups, Payback), who are struggling to keep their North Carolina fishing empire from collapsing. As they work to hold onto their family business, the Buckleys resort to increasingly risky measures, pulling viewers into a world of familial tension, ambition, and moral ambiguity. The story, set against the dramatic backdrop of the North Carolina coastline, is poised to examine the high personal costs of power and control.
Annable will take on the role of Wes Larsen, a charismatic real estate developer whose interest in Mae Buckley is more than strictly professional, adding another layer of tension to the already intricate family dynamics. Also mentioned by Deadline, the main cast also includes Jake Weary (It Follows, Fred: The Movie) and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl, Glee), who will portray Cane and Bree Buckley, respectively. Veteran director Marcos Siega (Vampire Diaries, You) will direct the first two episodes and executive produce the pilot.
According to Deadline, Annable’s role in The Waterfront marks a significant addition to his recent work. Currently, he stars alongside Zoe Saldaña (Avatar, Colombiana) in the Paramount+ spy thriller Special Ops: Lioness, created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, 1923). Annable’s previous collaborations with Sheridan include a memorable arc on the popular Western series Yellowstone.
With its blend of family intrigue and high-stakes drama, The Waterfront is positioned to capture viewers when it debuts on Netflix.
