According to Comicbook, a Marvel fan-favorite almost made it to Agatha All Along. The show’s cast was no doubt talented, with Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, The White Lotus), Ali Ahn (Raising Dion, The Diplomat), Debra Jo Rupp (That ‘70s Show, WandaVision), Joe Locke (Heartstopper), Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days), Patti LuPone (American Horror Story, Steven Universe) and Sasheer Zamata (Home Economics, I Feel Pretty). Mxdwn had an amazing opportunity to interview Zamata, which can be read here. Comicbook states that Patty Guggenheim (iCarly, Florida Girls), who played Madisynn King in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, was supposed to join the cast as her character. Madisynn was a very popular character, not only because of her performance on She-Hulk, but also by creating a meme format in 2022.
With her sudden popularity, Agatha All Along showrunner Jac Schaeffer (Black Widow, The Hustle) wanted Madisynn in the series. However, after careful thought, he decided it would be best if she weren’t written as her role in the show wouldn’t make any sense in terms of narrative. “[We wanted] to get Madisynn on the Witches’ Road, but it just didn’t work. It was shoehorning,” Schaeffer said to The Ringer-Verse.
For Madisynn to be written into the show, the writers would have had to figure out how she could find her way to Westview from Los Angeles County and naturally take action. With that in mind, Schaeffer realized it was nothing short of fan service.
Comicbook now throws in the question of Mrs. Hart, played by Rupp, and if she had to go through the whole writing process like Madisynn. However, Mrs. Hart already resides in Westview, in the same setting as WandaVision, and acts as an amazing comedic relief for both shows. Adding her to the narrative and cast makes sense, and she fits right into the show, which focuses more on Agatha, unlike Madisynn, who has no knowledge of Westview or its characters.
Comicbook stated that fans want to see Madisynn in other MCU media, but Mrs. Hart was a better addition to Agatha All Along from a storyline perspective and for comedic relief.
