Based on the first campaign of the web series Critical Role, the acclaimed animated fantasy series Vox Machina initially aired in January 2023. The series focuses on a rag-tag group of unlikely heroes who protect the realm of Tal’Dorei from dark forces. According to Amazon MGM Studios, season three looks poised to continue that tradition, delivering 12 exciting episodes with a three-episode premiere on October 3rd. The announcement comes after a long wait, with season three being greenlit in 2022.
The cast consists of Laura Bailey (Soul Eater) as Vex’halia, Liam O’Brien(Naruto) as Vaxaldan, Taliesin Jaffe (Black Butler) as Percival, Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us) as Pike, Sam Riegel(Fate/Stay Night) as Scanlan, Travis Willingham (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) as Grog, Marsha Ray (UnDeadwood) as Keyleth and Matt Mercer (Attack on Titan), the voice behind most of the NPC’s within the series.
The third season will follow the events of the finale, in which the group returns to Whitestone and plans to get the rest of the Vestiges and combat the Chroma Conclave. However, they encounter the dragon Raishan, voiced by Cree Summer (Voltron Legendary Defender) disguised as Keeper Yennen. Prime Video released the opening title sequence for the upcoming season, which shows the heroes traveling the land and battling monsters.
The series will be produced by the combined efforts of Titmouse, who has produced titles such as Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Amazon Studios, who has produced works such as The Rings of Power. The cast acts as the show’s executive producers alongside Brandon Auman (Star Wars: Resistance), Chris Prynoski (Metalocalypse), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax) and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth)
The animated show is renowned for its unique blend of humor, heart and epic fantasy storytelling. While fans await the debut of the upcoming season on Prime Video, the previous seasons are available to watch.
