CBS has officially ordered a Young Sheldon spinoff. According to TVLine, the series will be centered around Georgie and Mandy and their family as they grow and travel through the path of parenthood. The spinoff has been ordered as a straight-to-series, but there is yet to be any information regarding the premiere.
TVLine has previously reported that the final season of Young Sheldon will feature the wedding of Mandy and Georgie. With this news, fans were eager to see if their favorite characters were going to have any sort of content regarding their growing family. To this, their requests were answered as the spinoff, which has yet to be titled, will follow the two young lovers throughout their lives as newlyweds. The official logline reads that the series will follow the two “as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage.”
CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach expressed in a statement how fond she is of the original series Young Sheldon, and the characters that the new spinoff will center around. She then went on to state how the new project is exciting as she eagerly looks forward to the creation of the series. “It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy. Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe.” said Reisenbach.
There is yet to be any information regarding the premiere or any further casting other than Montana Jordan (The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter) and Emily Osment (Hannah Montana), who play the roles of Georgia and Mandy, but what viewers do know is that the series is slated to be a part of the 2024-2025 television season. The series will also be shot differently than its source material. The spinoff series will be using multi-camera shooting and also be shot in front of a live, studio audience, much like Young Sheldon’s source series, The Big Bang Theory.
Although the spinoff is yet to be debuted, you can watch new episodes of the final season of Young Sheldon on CBS on Thursdays at 8 pm EST and stream it on Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, and Max.
